2025 MAEOE Conference: Marquette

Image - Conference save the date. October 3-5, 2025 in Marquette Michigan

Historical and magical Marquette will be the site for the 2025 state environmental education conference hosted by MAEOE. Marquette, on the shore of Michigan’s most Superior Lake, is known for iron ore, beauty, history, freighters, and amazing outdoor recreation opportunities. Northern Michigan University’s Northern Center will be our hub.

Due to the long distance (three hours west of the Mackinaw Bridge) the conference format may be adjusted a bit. Several compelling stops will be arranged to break up your Thursday travels if you wish to take an “education” break. A "Meet and Greet" will take place on Presque Isle Park Thursday evening October 2nd while the traditional MAEOE MASH networking event will be hosted by Barrel and Beam Friday evening.  Sunday may be condensed a bit to get you on the road earlier.

While many plans are still in the works please plan accordingly for a busy fall weekend in Marquette, one of their busiest seasons of the year due to fall colors.

As conference details become available you can jump to them from here

Conference Lodging

We have secured lodging blocks at the Holiday Inn and several other hotels. The prices may surprise you, but our team negotiated as best we could. Due to popularity of the area this time of the year, several hotels had zero interest in a room block being held for a conference.

Book early to ensure a room at the best rate.

The Holiday Inn, Marquette’s largest hotel is holding a room block for us at $199.99/night. You can register now to hold your rooms. Call (906) 225-1351 with questions. Book here

The Holiday Inn Express, just a mile or so down the road, is also holding a block of rooms at $219/night. Call 906-225-1300 and ask for the MAEOE block.

Superior Stay Hotel, is holding 20 rooms for MAEOE. $249.99 per night. Book here

Camping

MAEOE has reserved 10 rustic sites (T1-T10) at Tourist Park campground, operated by the city of Marquette and just minutes away from the Northern Center conference hub. Camping fees for Thursday-Sunday departure (three nights) will be $110 or $75 for two nights. Cancellation fee will be $25.  This opportunity will be online soon here at MAEOE.

If you wish a site with electric hookup, you will need to register yourself with the City of Marquette Parks and Recreation webpage. Electric sites are $45/night and up.

There is also a camping resort south of town perhaps 15 minutes away. Rippling River has several campgrounds. www.ripplingriverresort.com  MAEOE has NOT reserved sites here.

Conference Sites

There are many sites around town that will host events for our conference. Here is a snapshot of a few.

The primary conference venue will be the Northern Center.
