What to know before submitting

Session options:

Breakout Session (45 Minutes):  A typical session you have attended at any conference. This could be a lecture format, activity or a combination. It could be indoors or outdoors. These sessions are offered either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

Extended Breakout (105 minutes): Same as above but for those that need more time. These sessions are offered either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

Workshop (3 - 3.5 hours): Typically, these have been reserved for EE training modules for certification such as Project Wild, Project Learning Tree and others. New unique ideas are always welcome. These are only offered Friday morning.

Field Experience (3 - 4 hours): These off-site sessions usually are outdoor education and recreation focused, but they are also used to highlight area museums or specific sites. (Many of these are pre-selected by the MAEOE Conference Core Team due to conference logistics but if you have an idea, feel free to submit. Please note the timeframe includes transportation from door to door.)

EEC Capstone: Depending on the year and number of EEC graduates, these sessions are held either Friday afternoon or Saturday. (You need to be approved by MAEOE’s EEC Coordinator before submission.)

Your session:

  • Please include where you work (Organization/ school/ independent) and your role (title).

  • Please make your presentation title brief and catchy!

  • The Description (75 words) is your chance to elaborate and convince the committee your session should be chosen.

  • Secondary description (30 words). The conference program is a Readers Digest version of your session and requires a much briefer description. So the committee doesn’t have to edit all the descriptions for the program, we have included a secondary description (30 words). If your session is selected, we will use this for the program. Again, sell your session to conference participants!

Conference Themes:

The themes suggested on the form are your “best” chance of being selected, but not all inclusive. Mark all that apply.

Fees:

MAEOE does not allow fees for breakout or extended breakout sessions. Fees for workshops (PLT, etc.) and field experiences are primarily charged to cover the costs.

Deadlines

  • May 1: Submissions due by midnight
  • May: Core Conference Committee meets and selects sessions
  • June: All those who submitted a proposal are contacted via email and told of their status
  • July 1: Conference registration opens
