Dive into Project WET’s newest K-12 guide, containing hands-on lessons linking sustainability to water management issues while meeting Environmental Education Certification (EEC) Strand 2 requirements. People and Water, explores water management issues through the lens of sustainability. It is especially relevant in the context of real-world challenges like the Flint Water Crisis. Designed for K-12 education, the guide features over 20 engaging lessons that combine scientifically accurate content and hands-on learning experiences. These activities are designed to help students better understand water-related concepts and foster a deeper appreciation for our planet’s most vital resource. Location: UM-Flint Riverfront Conference Center at 1 Riverfront Plaza, Flint, MI 48502 Time: Friday, October 2 from 8:30a.m. to 11:30a.m. Arrival: This workshop takes place at the main conference venue. Session Outcomes: 1. Explore Project WET’s newest guide using hands-on learning and engagement while understanding how it approaches water management through a sustainability lens. 2. Meet a requirement of the EEC Strand 2 through participation in a full Project WET workshop. About the Presenters: Amanda Syers, Science Education Specialist, Grand Valley State University Annis Water Resources Institute. Amanda (Ed.D.) is a science education specialist at the Annis Water Resources Institute of Grand Valley State University and state coordinator for Michigan Project WET (Water Education Today). Christina Catanese, Education Specialist, Grand Valley State University Annis Water Resources Institute. Christina (BA, MS) is the Education Specialist at the Annis Water Resources Institute, Grand Valley State University. She leads aquatic science outreach programs and hands-on cruises on Lake Michigan.
