Description
Join us for a hands-on volunteer service project at the Edible Flint Educational Farm, a 2.5-acre space that includes two hoop houses, outdoor growing spaces, and a small orchard. All produce grown at the farm is circled back to our community through our free farm stand and donations to local food banks and soup kitchens. Volunteers will help support local food access and urban agriculture efforts by assisting with seasonal farm tasks such as harvesting crops, garden clean-up, planting grape vines, and preparing garden spaces for the changing season.
Participants will receive a special conference service project t-shirt, exclusive to this event. We will conclude the program with a group reflection discussion as we share a light meal together.
All supplies will be provided, including tools, gloves, kneelers, and stools if needed. Water and snacks will also be available for volunteers throughout the evening. Please come dressed for outdoor work in layers and closed toed comfortable shoes and be prepared for Michigan weather. In the event of thunderstorms, the volunteer project may need to be cancelled or rescheduled.
Please reach out to conference@maeoe.com with any questions or accessibility requests.
