Description
Join the Flint River Watershed Coalition education team during this engaging field experience where you will use benthic and chemical monitoring in the Flint River. Your watershed can tell you a lot about what is going on in your environment. Participants will have the opportunity to see beautiful species such as dragonfly nymphs, mayflies, and crayfish. Along with searching for these species, we will run chemical tests such as pH, nitrates, and phosphates. The data that is uncovered will give a representation of the health and vitality of Swartz Creek, which is a tributary to the Flint River. The Flint River Watershed Coalition implements this programming in 20 school districts in Genesee County and beyond. Paths will not always be paved. Participants will be standing and moving throughout the experience. Testing locations are all located near the Flint River Watershed Coalition building, along the riverfront.
